Keynote Speaker

Mr. Steven Brody, Vice President for North American Operations, International Space University (ISU)

Mr. Brody will speak on the opportunities for young space professionals to advance their education and careers by participating in ISU programs, either on its Strasbourg campus, within the beautiful Alsace region of France, or at other sites around the world, including the United States. Participants will learn about the "three I's" of ISU: International, Intercultural, and Interdisciplinary. He will also share his insights and experiences from a career of involvement in some of the most exciting science and human spaceflight programs at NASA. This promises to be a very interesting and informative presentation.

Before joining ISU, Mr. Brody held numerous senior positions with NASA in the U.S. and Europe. He served as Program Executive with the Science Mission Directorate, performing oversight of the Discovery Program of planetary science missions. Earlier, he developed space science tasks as precursors to human exploration, formulated strategic concepts supporting the commercial development of space, and implemented related education and outreach activities. He led a team to produce recommendations for NASA's investment in in-situ resource utilization. Mr. Brody spent four years in the Netherlands for NASA as its representative to the European Space Agency's (ESA) research and technology center (ESTEC), providing programmatic and technical interface to ESA for the Space Station Program.

Prior to his career at NASA, Mr. Brody was employed in the aerospace industry in several roles, including Director for Aerospace Planning, and Project Manager for a high-fidelity, integrated launch readiness test of the Space Shuttle for Shuttle launches STS-1 through STS-6. Mr. Brody received a Bachelor's degree in Physics, with a minor in Political Science (Drexel University); he also holds a Masters degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics (MIT). His Masters thesis involved radio astronomy research in solar system dynamics.

Mr. Brody is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA, and a member of the American Astronautical Society, the Planetary Society, and the National Space Society.

Technical Presentations Sessions are organized by topic. Each 90-minute long session will contain 3 papers: 20 minutes for presentation, 10 minutes for Q&A.
